NOTES: General: Magnum Shielding brake lines are designed to follow the same routing path as OE routing path. Upper, lower, mid brake line kits and adapters are sold separately for a perfect fit. Non-stock applications require taking a measurement for upper brake line length and banjo angle to ensure correct fitment (see How to Order). Harley-Davidson motorcycles equipped with ABS (anti-lock brake system) require ABS specific brake line kits. Failure to do so may result in compromised anti-lock braking ability. Magnum Shielding upper brake line kits manufactured specifically for these applications are identified with the letters “ABS” printed directly on the brake hose. Touring and Trike models: Touring models use three kits – one upper, one mid-line and one lower. Lower kits are optional. Trikes use two kits - one upper and one mid-line. No lower is available. Designer mid and upper brake lines are required for ABS Touring and Trike models. In the fairing or nacelle, mid lines connect the upper brake line to the ABS controller. Softail models: Single Disc models utilize three kits – one upper line and one adapter are required for handlebar changes. Lower kits are optional. Adapters for Softail models connect the upper brake line to the ABS controller (2011-2017) or to the lower brake line manifold (2018+) 11–17 Softail model lower kits include an adapter. 2018+ single disc Softail model lower kits do NOT include an adapter. Softail brake adapter comes with lower, but lower is optional. Adapter is needed if just purchasing an upper line. Dual Disc models 2018+ do NOT require an adapter when replacing the stock lower brake line. Upper lines connect directly to the Magnum lower brake line. Dyna and Sportster models: Dyna and Sportster models require two kits – one upper and one lower. IMPORTANT – HOW TO ORDER: Stock fitments: Stock fitment chart determines upper, lower, adapter and mid-line kits needed for your application. Lowers, adapters and mid-lines are model specific. Stock upper line length and banjo angle is listed for each application to help select alternative lines. Alternative fitments: For handlebar changes, fitment options are accommodated with UPPER lines only. Non-stock routing may require a different length or banjo angle. The alternative length chart lists available lengths and banjo angles.. Touring and Trike model upper line length is determined using the 49” Designer mid-line as a reference point to measure the additional length needed to complete the routing from the ABS controller to the master cylinder. (see diagrams below) 2018+ Softail –Upper line replacement when reusing the stock lower line requires an adapter. Lengths are determined by using the upper brake line as a guide. Measure from master cylinder to the point where the upper line connects to the lower brake line manifold. Subtract 1 1/2” (adapter length) from that measurement to determine upper line length. (see diagram below) 2018+ Softail Dual Disc - An adapter is NOT needed when replacing both the upper and lower brake lines. Upper lines connect directly to the Magnum Designer dual disc lower brake line. Follow the above instruction without subtracting 1 1/2” for the adapter. (see diagram below) Upper line length for 11-17 Softail, Dyna, and 14-22 Sportster models is determined using the stock upper brake line as a guide. Pull the rubber boot back and measure from where the flexible line enters the crimp collar on the lower portion, up to the master cylinder.
